Grade 1 is broadly equivalent to Year 2 British · Class 1 CBSE · PYP IB
American Curriculum · Ages 6-7
First grade computer science teaches that a computer only does what it is told, in the order it is told. Students build short sequences of instructions using block-based tools such as ScratchJr or Code.org's Course A, and learn that a wrong result usually means a wrong step rather than a broken machine.
Alongside coding, students learn to use a device with growing independence — logging in, opening and saving work, and typing — and begin digital citizenship with keeping passwords private and telling a trusted adult about anything that worries them online.
