Class 6 is where science becomes a subject in its own right in CBSE, replacing EVS. The NCERT syllabus covers food and its components, materials and their properties, separation of substances, and the world of living things.

Students study plant and animal structure, body movements, habitats, motion and measurement, light, shadows and reflections, electricity and circuits, magnets, water, air and waste management. Practical observation and recording become formal expectations.
