Biology — Class 11

CBSE (Indian Curriculum) · Ages 16-17

CBSE Class 11 Biology is the foundation for NEET and for medical and life science degrees. It is heavily content-based and rewards systematic study over last-minute revision.

Content covers diversity in the living world, structural organisation in plants and animals, cell structure and function, plant physiology, and human physiology. The unit on human physiology is the largest and is examined in depth in Class 12 as well.

Diagrams matter enormously — labelled figures earn marks directly in the board exam, and drawing them accurately is a skill worth practising deliberately.

Key topics covered

  • Diversity in the Living World — Classification, the five kingdoms, and plant and animal taxonomy.
  • Structural Organisation — Morphology and anatomy of flowering plants, and animal tissues.
  • Cell Structure & Function — Cell theory, organelles, biomolecules, enzymes and cell division.
  • Plant Physiology — Transport, mineral nutrition, photosynthesis, respiration and growth.
  • Digestion & Respiration — Human digestive and respiratory systems and their disorders.
  • Circulation & Excretion — Body fluids, circulation, excretory products and osmoregulation.
  • Locomotion & Control — Movement, the skeletal system, neural control and chemical coordination.
