Grade 2 extends fluency to addition and subtraction within 100 (with strategies for within 1,000), and place value work covers hundreds, tens and ones. Students begin working with arrays of objects — the foundation for multiplication the following year.

Measurement moves to standard units (inches, feet, centimeters), money and telling time to the nearest 5 minutes are introduced, and simple bar graphs and picture graphs are used to represent data.
