Grade 11 Introduction to Computer Science (ICS3U in Ontario) is a university-preparation course and the standard prerequisite for the Grade 12 course and for computing degrees.
Students learn object-oriented programming — classes, objects, methods and encapsulation — along with arrays, sorting and searching algorithms, modular design and file handling. The course also covers software development practice, the environmental and ethical impact of computing, and computing careers.
