Computer Science
Grade 5 · Canadian Curriculum (General)
Grade 5 coding moves toward genuine software thinking. Students use nested loops, several variables at once, lists and reusable subprograms, and many write their first lines of text-based code, often in Python.
They model real situations in spreadsheets and evaluate how well a model represents reality, and learn how binary represents information, what the parts of a computer do, and the basics of cyber security.
