Year 4 introduces states of matter (solid, liquid, gas) and the processes of melting, freezing and evaporation, alongside sound — how it's made, how it travels, and how pitch and volume change. Electricity is introduced through simple circuits, including which materials conduct electricity.

Biology work covers classifying living things by their characteristics, the human digestive system and teeth, and food chains showing how energy passes between organisms.
