Year 3 introduces rocks and soils, and light and shadows — including the first formal understanding that light travels in straight lines and is needed to see. Forces and magnets are explored through hands-on investigation of pushes, pulls, and magnetic attraction and repulsion.

Plant biology deepens to cover nutrition and the parts of a plant, and human biology introduces nutrition, skeletons and muscles.
