Year 11 · National Curriculum (England)
Year 11 is the GCSE exam year for both English Language and English Literature. Teaching of new content typically finishes early in the year, shifting to structured revision: past-paper practice for Language's unseen comprehension and writing tasks, and essay practice on the specific set texts for Literature.
Because Literature exams are usually closed-book (no text allowed in the exam), students need to know quotations and textual detail from memory — this is one of the most common gaps focused tutoring closes in the final months before exams.
