Chemistry

Year 10 · National Curriculum (England)

Year 10 opens the GCSE Chemistry course in England. Most schemes cover atomic structure and the periodic table, bonding and structure, quantitative chemistry, chemical changes and energy changes across the year.

Quantitative chemistry is where the year is won or lost — relative formula mass, moles, reacting masses and concentration all appear, and students who leave them shaky in Year 10 struggle throughout Year 11. Content is comparable across AQA, OCR, Pearson and WJEC; the board pages carry the specification detail.
