OCR GCSE Mathematics covers the same six national content areas as every other board — Number, Algebra, Ratio & Proportion, Geometry & Measures, Probability and Statistics — across three papers (one non-calculator, two calculator) at Foundation or Higher tier. OCR's papers are generally regarded as having a clear, methodical question progression, moving from straightforward recall into multi-step reasoning in a fairly predictable structure.

Algebra and geometry remain the highest-weighted areas, including quadratic and simultaneous equations, circle theorems, trigonometry, and vectors at Higher tier. OCR places particular emphasis on students showing clear, well-organised working, since method marks are awarded generously but require legible, logical steps.

Because OCR is used by fewer schools than AQA or Edexcel, students switching schools mid-GCSE occasionally find themselves on an unfamiliar specification — a tutor who can confirm exactly which OCR topics and command words to expect removes a lot of last-minute uncertainty.
