AQA GCSE Mathematics is assessed across three papers — one non-calculator and two calculator — sat at the end of Year 11, at either Foundation (grades 1–5) or Higher (grades 4–9) tier. The specification covers six broad areas: Number, Algebra, Ratio & Proportion, Geometry & Measures, Probability, and Statistics.

Algebra carries significant weight at GCSE, from solving linear and quadratic equations through to simultaneous equations, sequences, and graph sketching. Geometry extends into circle theorems, trigonometry (including the sine and cosine rules at Higher tier), and vectors. Problem-solving and multi-step reasoning questions are a deliberate feature of AQA's papers, not just recall.
