Year 5 tackles more ambitious programming projects, often introducing physical computing (controlling simple external devices or on-screen sprites with more complex logic) and deepening understanding of how computer networks, including the internet, provide multiple services such as the World Wide Web.

Children are expected to use search technologies effectively and to critically evaluate digital content — understanding that not everything online is accurate or appropriate — alongside continued safe and respectful technology use.
