Pearson Edexcel International A Level Mathematics (YMA01) follows a unit structure — Pure Mathematics 1 to 4 plus applied units in Mechanics or Statistics — with AS awarded on the first half and the full A Level on all units.
Pure content covers algebra and functions, coordinate geometry, sequences and series, trigonometry, exponentials and logarithms, differentiation, integration, numerical methods, vectors and differential equations. The unit structure allows resits of individual papers, which is a genuine advantage for students who start slowly.
Edexcel questions are typically more structured than Cambridge's, guiding candidates through longer problems in parts, but the final questions on each paper still demand independent problem solving.
