Computer Science

Grade 7 · Canadian Curriculum (General)

Grade 7 coding, embedded in the intermediate mathematics curriculum, expects students to write and modify programs that analyze data and model situations. Programming covers variables, data types, conditionals, loops, lists and subprograms in a text-based language.

Students also learn how a computer executes instructions, how data is represented in binary, and how networks and protocols move information. Many schools introduce web development — HTML and CSS — at this stage.
