Higher
Higher Physics covers Our Dynamic Universe, Particles and Waves, and Electricity, assessed by an SQA exam and a 20-mark assignment based on independent research and experimental work.
The course introduces genuinely demanding ideas: special relativity, the Doppler effect and the expanding universe, the standard model of particles, nuclear reactions, photoelectric effect, interference and diffraction, capacitors, and semiconductors — all supported by a substantial set of relationships.
Uncertainty analysis appears throughout the assignment and the exam. Candidates who are comfortable selecting and rearranging relationships, and who present working line by line with units, convert their understanding into marks far more reliably.
