MYP 4 typically splits into standard and extended mathematics, and the pathway chosen here largely determines whether a student can take Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level in the Diploma.

Content covers quadratic expressions and equations, algebraic fractions, simultaneous equations, exponential and reciprocal graphs, trigonometry including the sine and cosine rules, circle geometry, vectors, and statistics with cumulative frequency.

Extended mathematics introduces topics beyond the standard course such as function notation, transformations of graphs and more demanding proof, and it maps closely onto IGCSE Extended tier.
