CBSE Class 4 Mathematics extends number work to five and six digits and consolidates all four operations. Children multiply and divide by two-digit numbers, learn factors and multiples, and meet the concept of a fraction as part of a whole more formally.

New ground includes decimals in the context of money and measurement, perimeter and area of simple shapes, and reading and drawing bar graphs. Word problems become multi-step, which is where most children need the most support.
