Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Computer Science (4CP0) is assessed by a written paper on principles of computer science and a practical programming paper completed on a computer, which distinguishes it from the fully written Cambridge route.

Content covers problem solving and algorithms, programming in Python, data representation, computer systems and hardware, networks, and the environmental, ethical and legal impacts of digital technology.

The onscreen programming paper rewards genuine coding ability rather than memorised answers. Students who write and debug real Python regularly through Year 10 and 11 perform markedly better than those who revise theory alone.
