Grade 12 · Canadian Curriculum (General)
Grade 12 Physics (SPH4U in Ontario, Physics 30 in Alberta, Physics 12 in British Columbia) is a hard requirement for engineering admission at Canadian universities and one of the most demanding courses on the Grade 12 timetable. Its final mark commonly sits in a student's top six and therefore directly affects their admission average.
The course covers dynamics in two dimensions, energy and momentum, gravitational, electric and magnetic fields, the wave nature of light, and revolutions in modern physics — relativity and quantum mechanics. Fields is the unit that separates grades, because it asks students to reason about an invisible quantity using analogy and mathematics at the same time.
