Eighth grade computer science prepares students for high school courses and, for many, for AP Computer Science Principles. Programming covers nested data structures, standard algorithms such as linear and binary search and simple sorts, and an introduction to efficiency.
Theory covers binary arithmetic and hexadecimal, logic and boolean expressions, how data is compressed and encrypted, and cyber security threats and defenses. Students also complete a substantial project of their own design.
