Year 11 completes the WJEC GCSE English Language and English Literature courses. All set texts are finished, and the focus turns to writing full-length responses under timed conditions and refining analytical precision.

Language candidates practise the reading papers on unseen texts and both writing tasks; Literature candidates practise extract-plus-whole-text responses on Shakespeare and the 19th century novel, unseen poetry comparison, and anthology poetry comparison.

The spoken language endorsement is completed in this year in most schools. Focused feedback on quotation selection and paragraph structure is the highest-value support available at this point.
