Computer Science

Year 10 · Curriculum for Wales

Year 10 is the first year of WJEC GCSE Computer Science in Wales. Programming moves into arrays, nested loops, subprograms, string handling and file operations, and students learn to trace algorithms by hand as well as write them.

Theory covers data representation, computer architecture and the fetch-execute cycle, memory and storage, and networks. The qualification assesses both written theory and practical programming, so genuine coding fluency matters as much as revision.
