Computer Science
Year 1 · Curriculum for Wales
Computing in Year 1 sits within the Science and Technology Area of Learning and Experience. Children learn that a program is a set of instructions given in order, and they create simple sequences using floor robots and block-based apps.
They also learn to use a device confidently: logging in, opening and saving work, typing, and creating simple digital content such as a picture, a caption or a short recording.
Digital citizenship starts here too: keeping passwords private, being kind online, and telling a trusted adult if something on a screen worries them.
