WJEC GCSE Biology is the separate-science route in Wales, taken alongside Chemistry and Physics rather than as part of the Double Award. It is examined in two written papers with practical work assessed through a practical assessment component.
Content covers cells and movement across membranes, respiration and photosynthesis, digestion, transport in humans and plants, homeostasis and the kidney, the nervous system, disease and immunity, genetics and inheritance, evolution, and ecosystems and human impact.
The specified practicals and the data-analysis questions built on them carry substantial marks, so understanding method and evaluation — not just results — is essential for a strong grade.
