A Level · WJEC / Eduqas
WJEC A-Level Biology in Wales follows the modular AS and A2 pattern and covers basic biochemistry and cell organisation, biodiversity and the physiology of body systems, energy, homeostasis and the environment, and variation, inheritance and options, together with an assessed practical unit.
The optional topic is chosen by the school from immunology and disease, human musculoskeletal anatomy, or neurobiology and behaviour, so two learners in different Welsh schools may study noticeably different final-year content. Mathematical requirements — statistical tests, chi-square and standard deviation — are examined throughout rather than confined to one unit, and are a common source of avoidable lost marks.
