Physics

A Level · WJEC / Eduqas

WJEC A-Level Physics in Wales is assessed modularly, with AS units in Year 12 feeding into the final grade and A2 units completing it. The content covers motion, energy and matter; electricity and light; oscillations and nuclei; fields and forces; and a school-selected option from a list that includes medical physics and the physics of sports.

WJEC's practical requirement is more substantial than in England: alongside the written papers there is a practical examination unit, so laboratory technique is assessed directly rather than only through written questions about experiments. Learners who are competent on paper but rarely handle apparatus themselves are exposed by this unit, and it is worth planning practical time deliberately across both years.
