Rumi School of Innovative Sciences (RSIS)

Computer Science

Year 6 · Curriculum for Wales

Year 6 computing is the bridge into secondary. Pupils design, write, test and refine programs that solve a defined problem, using variables, lists, conditions, loops and procedures, and increasingly writing in text-based code rather than blocks.

They work with data at a more serious level — designing a database, querying it, and presenting findings — and evaluate digital tools against what a task actually needs.

Systems knowledge covers binary, how the internet routes and stores data, and cyber security basics such as strong passwords, phishing and why software updates matter. Online safety work becomes genuinely practical: privacy, reputation and knowing how to get help.
