Year 4 · Curriculum for Wales
Year 4 computing builds more ambitious programs. Pupils use variables to store and change information, combine loops with conditions, and design a program on paper before implementing it — a habit that carries directly into secondary computing.
Data handling extends to formulas in spreadsheets and to structuring information in a database so it can be searched and filtered usefully.
Pupils learn how data travels across networks, what a web page is made of, and how to behave responsibly online — including recognising misleading content and understanding what a digital footprint is.
