Rumi School of Innovative Sciences (RSIS)

Science

Year 3 · Curriculum for Wales

Year 3 science covers plants in detail — the function of roots, stem, leaves and flowers, water transport and the pollination cycle — alongside animals including humans, focusing on nutrition, skeletons and muscles.

Rocks, soils and fossils introduce earth science, while light work covers reflection, shadows and protecting eyes from the sun. Forces and magnets are studied through hands-on investigation of attraction, repulsion and magnetic materials.

Enquiry skills step up: children set up their own comparative tests, take accurate measurements, record results in tables and use them to answer a question rather than simply describing what they saw.
