Computer Science

Year 3 · Curriculum for Wales

Year 3 computing introduces programs that make decisions. Children work with sequence, repetition and simple selection in block-based environments such as Scratch, and learn to decompose a task into smaller steps before building it.

They also begin working with data — entering it into a spreadsheet or database, sorting it, and producing charts from it — and create more polished digital content combining text, images and sound.

Understanding of networks starts here: what the internet actually is, how a search engine finds results, and why some results are more trustworthy than others.
