Rumi School of Innovative Sciences (RSIS)

Science

Year 2 · Curriculum for Wales

Year 2 science studies living things and their habitats in more depth — what makes something living, food chains, and how animals and plants are suited to where they live. Children also look at how animals, including humans, grow and what they need to stay healthy.

Plant work involves growing seeds and bulbs and identifying what plants need to thrive. Materials work explores how the shape of solid objects can be changed by squashing, bending, twisting and stretching, and why particular materials are chosen for particular jobs.

Investigations become more structured — recording results in tables and charts, and using them to answer the original question.
