Third Level · Curriculum for Excellence
Third Level Computing Science is where pupils typically move into text-based programming, most often Python. They work with variables and data types, selection, loops, arrays or lists, and simple functions, and learn to design a program using structure diagrams or pseudocode before writing it.
The course also covers computer systems in real terms — binary, how data is represented, processors and memory, networks and the internet — plus database and web design basics in many schools.
This level maps directly onto the National 4 and National 5 Computing Science courses, so the analysis, design, implement, test and evaluate cycle is worth learning properly here.
