Computer Science

P7 · Northern Ireland Curriculum

P7 Using ICT is the bridge into post-primary computing. Pupils design, write, test and refine programs that solve a defined problem, using variables, lists, conditions, loops and procedures, and increasingly writing in text-based code.

They work with data at a more serious level — designing a database, querying it, and presenting findings — and evaluate digital tools against what a task actually needs.

Systems knowledge covers binary, how the internet routes and stores data, and cyber security basics such as strong passwords, phishing and why software updates matter.
