P6 Using ICT brings in more sophisticated program design — nested loops, multiple variables, lists and reusable procedures. Many pupils write their first lines of text-based code here, often in Python or a Python-like environment.

Pupils model real situations in spreadsheets using formulae and what-if scenarios, and evaluate how well their model reflects reality.

Systems work covers how data is represented in binary, what happens inside a computer, and how networks route information — alongside serious online safety work on privacy settings and source reliability.
