View topicsOCR offers Biology A (H420), a conventional specification built from six modules, and Biology B, Advancing Biology (H422), which is taught through contexts and applications. Biology A is assessed by three papers: Biological Processes, Biological Diversity, and Unified Biology, which is synoptic and includes extended response questions.
OCR's mathematical demand is real and often underestimated: statistical tests, standard deviation, chi-square and Hardy-Weinberg all appear, and the Unified Biology paper regularly presents unfamiliar data for interpretation. The practical endorsement runs alongside the written papers as a separately reported pass or fail, based on twelve required practical activity groups completed over the two years.
