Grade 10 English (ENG2D in Ontario) deepens analysis and is, in Ontario, the year of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test — a graduation requirement assessing reading and writing across subject areas.

Students study a full Shakespeare play, a novel, poetry and non-fiction, and write sustained comparative and analytical essays. Writing demands a controlled formal voice, integrated evidence, and paragraphs that build a cumulative argument.
