Grade 5 extends fraction and decimal operations, including adding and subtracting fractions with related denominators. Number Sense grows to numbers up to 100,000, and percent is introduced for the first time, connected explicitly to fractions and decimals.

Measurement covers area and volume of simple shapes and solids, and Data Management introduces calculating the mean as a measure of central tendency.
