Seventh grade deepens analysis into how texts are built. Students analyze how form contributes to meaning, compare a written work with its film or audio version, analyze how an author develops points of view, and compare two authors writing about the same subject.

Argument writing now requires acknowledging opposing claims directly, and research projects draw on several sources with proper citation and an assessment of each source's credibility. Grammar covers phrases and clauses, misplaced modifiers and concise, precise word choice.
