Mathematics

Year 11 is the examination year for both WJEC GCSE Mathematics and GCSE Mathematics – Numeracy. The content is complete by now, so the year is dominated by consolidation, past papers and exam technique across Foundation or Higher tier.

Higher tier candidates work on algebraic proof, functions, circle theorems, advanced trigonometry, histograms and conditional probability. Foundation tier candidates focus on securing every accessible mark in number, ratio, basic algebra, geometry and statistics.

This is where targeted work pays most: identifying the specific topics costing marks in mock papers and drilling them, rather than revising everything evenly.
