Physics

National 5

National 5 Physics covers Dynamics, Space, Electricity, Properties of Matter, Waves and Radiation, assessed by an SQA exam and a 20-mark assignment based on independent research and experiment.

Pupils work with a substantial formula sheet and are expected to select, rearrange and apply the right relationship with correct units at every stage. Topics include motion graphs, Newton's laws, energy, circuits, gas laws, wave behaviour, refraction and nuclear radiation.

Physics at this level rewards disciplined layout — formula, substitution, answer, unit. Tutoring that enforces that habit typically lifts grades faster than covering extra content.
