Fourth Level · Curriculum for Excellence
By Fourth Level, science is taught as three distinct subjects and the content aligns closely with National 4 and National 5. Biology covers cell biology, DNA and inheritance, body systems and ecosystems; chemistry covers atomic structure, bonding, the mole, acids and bases, and rates of reaction.
Physics covers dynamics, energy, electricity, waves, radiation and space with a full set of formulae and units. Practical work is assessed properly — planning, uncertainty, tables, graphs and evaluation all carry marks.
Most pupils sit their National qualifications directly after this level, so consolidating calculation technique and exam-style answering here is time exceptionally well spent.
