Advanced Higher Physics covers Rotational Motion and Astrophysics, Quanta and Waves, and Electromagnetism, plus an extended investigation, assessed by an SQA exam and project report.

The course is explicitly calculus-based: angular motion, moment of inertia, gravitational fields, general relativity, stellar physics, quantum theory, simple harmonic motion, wave-particle duality, electric and magnetic fields, inductors and AC circuits.

Uncertainty analysis is treated rigorously and carries real marks in the investigation. Students who master calculus techniques and error propagation early find the rest of the course far more approachable — and both are highly teachable one-to-one.
