Advanced Higher Biology covers Cells and Proteins, Organisms and Evolution, and Investigative Biology, assessed by an SQA exam and a substantial independent project-based research report.

The content is university-preparatory: protein structure and function, membrane proteins, communication and signalling, laboratory techniques including chromatography and electrophoresis, field techniques, evolutionary biology, sexual selection and parasitism.
