Year 12 · Northern Ireland Curriculum
Year 12 completes the CCEA GCSE English Language and English Literature courses. Set texts are finished and controlled assessment is largely submitted, so the focus turns to writing full-length responses under timed conditions and refining analytical precision.
Language candidates practise the reading papers and both writing tasks; Literature candidates practise extract-plus-whole-text responses on Shakespeare and prose, and poetry comparison.
Focused feedback on quotation selection and paragraph structure is the highest-value support available at this point — it is the difference between knowing a text and writing about it well under pressure.
