Year 11 · Northern Ireland Curriculum
Year 11 opens CCEA GCSE Chemistry in Northern Ireland. Early units cover atomic structure and the periodic table, bonding and structure, and writing and balancing chemical equations.
Quantitative chemistry begins here — relative formula mass, the mole, reacting masses and concentration — and it underpins everything in Year 12. Because CCEA uses a unit structure with entries during the course, falling behind in Year 11 is harder to recover from than in a linear specification.
